Take Action

The Blue Mountains Sustainability Model urges us all to take action as individuals, but also to take action at the household, local, regional and global levels to improve our quality of life and the health of the planet.

Blue Mountains Pluriversity

The Pluriversity is a local government-led catalyst for systemic change. We are committed to the Rights of Nature, to embracing Indigenous wisdom and knowledge, to peace and to pluralism: which embraces and values diversity, tolerance, equal rights and inclusivity.

As well as actioning research and hosting events, workshops, tours, talks, courses, conferences, symposiums, mentoring and internships, we run Skill Share Saturdays on the first Saturday of every month, with intergenerational sharing by the community.

Our activities are tailored to the needs of individuals, community groups, organisations, business and government.

Hyperlocal News and Planetary Health News

In 2023, we developed six hyperlocal news sites, spanning the bioregion of the Blue Mountains and Lithgow. They instill hope and drive change by sharing how all sectors of our communities are taking action to tackle the challenges we face. Click to open each site:

Lower Mountains | Springwood Area | Mid Mountains | Katoomba Area | Blackheath Area | Lithgow

In 2025, we launched Planetary Health News, bringing these stories together for a global audience. Discover the stories by sector here:

Individuals | Community Groups | Businesses | Organisations | Educators/Researchers | Governments | Collaborations
