Skill Share Saturdays

Join us at the Blue Mountains Planetary Health Centre in Katoomba on the first Saturday of each month for our Skill Share Saturday event.

These sessions are for all ages, and are focused on skills and topics related to planetary health - restoring the health of our planet’s natural and social systems, and achieving the highest attainable standard of health, wellbeing and equity for all species worldwide.

You can join us for just one session, or stay for the whole day. Select your choices on the Get Tickets page. Registration essential.

PROGRAM

8:30AM - 10AM: Learn how to use your sewing machine class with Sherlie McMillan - $20

9AM: Planetary Health Cafe open (closes 2pm)

*Crop Swap - bring your surplus produce and trade with other growers! (open until gone)

*Please note: we understand the crop swap will be seasonal. Feel free to bring along seeds, or any other household items you may wish to swap. The Crop Swap won't be managed by staff - you can trade your items with anyone else that has things to share.

9AM - 10AM: Tai Chi and Qigong class with Virginia Field - $15

10AM - 12PM: Permaculture workshop with Leni from Alchemy Farms - $40

Learn how to grow with the Upper Blue Mountains seasons, rather than battling against them. The session will cover: crop selection for different seasons, what to grow from seeds vs seedlings, frost and wind protection, nurturing your soil with a seasonal cycle.

10AM - 3PM: Fashion Upcycling workshop with Sherlie McMillan - $20

If you need support with your sewing machine, please ensure you have completed the Learn how to use your sewing machine class before joining the Fashion Upcycling Program.

11AM - 12PM: Plant-based eating with Andy Mann - $10

1:30PM - 4:30PM: Planetary Health Bushcare with Karen Hising - Free

The bushcare site is accessed through the side maintenance driveway near 7 Oak Street. Feel free to enjoy the Cafe or other sessions beforehand and then we will walk to the site together.
